When it comes to the Reputation Management Company, the human resource manager is definitely doing it right since they give performance appraisal and feedback to their employees almost every month. They like to have an employee of the month in order to show their employees that they actually care and see how much work everybody puts in at the firm. Most companies will engage in traditional appraisal systems where the employee’s performance is measured on a certain criteria. Companies use appraisals in order to provide feedback to their employees and correct any deficiencies in order to create increased opportunities within the company. Some employees are not always satisfied with the basic appraisal process but it is important to give some form of assessment to provide feedback or suggest improvements in a particular area of the company. When employees are recognized for the work they put in for the company and rewarded, they often feel more motivated than other employees in other companies who do not receive feedback or appraisal from higher management.

Some companies have tied the performance analysis to sustainability performance. The identification of each employee’s performance is important in the first step of the process. Performance criteria are directly tied with a company’s goals and objectives. Any performance manager should hold a manger accountable for meeting any sustainability goals through employees. There is also trait, behavioral, and outcome appraisal instruments that can be altered in order to include sustainability criteria. A trait appraisal instrument is something that allows the supervisor to make judgments about characteristics of the employee including traits such as reliability, energy, loyalty, and decisiveness. There are also traits such as efficiency, honesty, or communicative to depict traits the company would like to see employees have. Outcome appraisal instruments certainly assess results for the company. This includes the total sales or number of products produced, sustainable companies can assess energy usage, among miles saved on transportation, or recycling levels.
